Submission Guidelines for (JALA)
1. Scope and Focus
The Journal of Leaderology and Applied Leadership (JALA) publishes peer-reviewed scholarly work and insightful articles that contribute to the field of leadership studies. We welcome submissions that provide theoretical insights, empirical research, case studies, and practical applications related to leadership and followership. Management-focused submissions are not accepted.
2. Types of Submissions
- Empirical Study/Research Manuscripts: Research and studies specifically in the fields of Leadership (or Followership). Management-based articles are not accepted.
- Practical Application Articles: Easy-to-read articles that connect existing leadership research to practical recommendations for leaders.
- Commentaries: Articles that address and engage with previously published research by extending, reinterpreting, or critically examining its findings.
3. Submission Process
Manuscript Preparation
- Format: Submissions should be in Microsoft Word format.
- Length: Empirical Study/Research Manuscripts should be limited to 20 pages (not including references). Practical Application Articles and Commentaries should be between 1,500 and 3,000 words (not including references).
- Style: Follow the APA (7th edition) guidelines for formatting, citations, and references.
- Font: Use Times New Roman, 12-point font.
- Spacing: Double-spaced text with 1-inch margins on all sides.
Manuscript Structure
- Title Page: Include the title of the manuscript, author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), and contact information.
- Abstract: A concise summary of 150-250 words.
- Keywords: 4-6 keywords related to the article.
- Main Text: Structured with appropriate headings and subheadings.
- References: Complete list of all references cited in the text, formatted according to APA (7th edition) guidelines.
Submission Procedure
- Online Submission: Manuscripts should be submitted through the JALA online submission form.
- Cover Letter: Include a cover letter summarizing the manuscript’s contribution to the field of leadership and affirming that the work is original and not under consideration elsewhere.
- Peer Review: All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review process.
4. Review Process
- Initial Screening: The editorial team will conduct an initial screening to ensure the submission aligns with JALA’s scope and guidelines.
- Peer Review: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be sent to two or more reviewers for double-blind peer review.
- Decision: Based on the reviewers’ feedback, the editorial team will make a decision (accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or reject).
- Revision and Resubmission: Authors may be asked to revise and resubmit their manuscript based on reviewer comments.
5. Ethical Considerations
- Originality: Submissions must be original work and not under consideration or published elsewhere.
- Plagiarism: JALA adheres to strict anti-plagiarism policies. All submissions will be checked for plagiarism.
- Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest in their cover letter.
- Human and Animal Rights: Research involving human participants or animals must comply with ethical standards and include appropriate approvals.
6. Publication
- Copyright: Upon acceptance, authors will be required to sign a copyright transfer agreement.
- Open Access: JALA provides open access to its articles to ensure wide dissemination and accessibility.
- Publication Fee: There are no submission or publication fees for articles published in JALA at this time.
