What is ORCID?
ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) provides a unique and persistent identifier for researchers, ensuring that their work is correctly attributed and easily discoverable. An ORCID iD is a 16-digit code that is associated with a researcher’s profile, which includes their publications, grants, and other research outputs. This unique identifier helps to disambiguate authors with similar names and facilitates accurate attribution across various platforms and publications.
Linking Papers to ORCID iDs
At the Journal of Leaderology and Applied Leadership (JALA), we recognize the importance of accurate and efficient attribution of scholarly work. As part of our commitment to supporting researchers, we encourage authors to provide their ORCID iD when submitting manuscripts. Here’s how JALA integrates ORCID iDs:
- Submission Process: During the manuscript submission process, authors will have the option to include their ORCID iD. If provided, we will link your ORCID iD to your published papers in our journal.
- Publication: Once your paper is published, your ORCID iD will be associated with your publication record, making it easier for others to find and cite your work.
Benefits of Having an ORCID iD
If you don’t currently have an ORCID iD, we strongly encourage you to consider obtaining one. Here’s why:
- Unique Identification: ORCID iDs provide a unique identifier that helps to distinguish your work from that of others with similar names. This ensures that your research is correctly attributed to you.
- Enhanced Visibility: An ORCID iD makes your work more visible and accessible. It links to your profile, which can include your publications, grants, and other research activities.
- Streamlined Processes: Many submission systems and grant applications integrate with ORCID, allowing you to easily populate forms with your research history and achievements.
- Integration with Research Networks: ORCID integrates with various research databases and networks, helping you maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date record of your research activities.
ORCID is Not a Requirement for Publication
While we highly value the benefits of ORCID and encourage authors to provide their ORCID iDs, please note that having an ORCID iD is not a requirement for publication with JALA. If you do not have an ORCID iD, you can still submit your manuscript and have it considered for publication. However, having an ORCID iD can enhance the visibility and management of your research outputs.
How to Obtain an ORCID iD
Obtaining an ORCID iD is simple and free. Visit the ORCID website to register and create your ORCID profile. Once registered, you can start linking your research activities and publications to your ORCID iD.
